Garden Getabout

The CNC holds their Garden Getabout (GG) in November each year. The event will be run over 2 days and 10+ local gardens in Corryong and the surrounding picturesque Upper Murray district will be open to the public.

The gardens on display are not professionally designed, but tended to by people with a passion for gardening. The gardens vary in sizes, some are well groomed while others are more ‘take me as I am’. All gardens have something to offer whether it is an unusual plant, a design feature, a problem solved or some other little surprise, one thing that is common to all of the gardens on display is that the love of gardening and the creativity that it inspires is alive and well in the Upper Murray.

The event is to be held from 10am to 5pm each day. A $15 weekend pass provides entry to all gardens. Wristbands and brochure/location maps can be purchased at CNC, Corryong Visitor Information Centre and some of the gardens on display. Otherwise, entry is $5 for a single garden viewing and is payable at the selected garden. There is no set order to the weekend viewings and all are invited to tour the gardens at their leisure. Each garden entrance will be marked with an orange flag and GG sign. Garden owners will be on hand over the weekend to chat with visitors about their gardens.

To complete a fantastic weekend, a progressive dinner is held where garden enthusiasts can enjoy a three course meal in a beautiful setting for a small cost. In 2019, the Attree Park Shade Sail Project received $3700 raised from the sale of raffle, garden and dinner tickets.

The CNC prefers to offer the money raised from the event back to the community.  If you are a local group or organisation looking for funds which benefit the Upper Murray and you are prepared to take an active part in the GG – that could be running the raffle, offering a garden for the weekend, organising the progressive dinner or bringing something new to the event– then please contact the CNC to discuss being the fundraising recipient in the future.
